Old County Pitch & Putt Club

Ladies and Gentlemen Old County Pitch and Putt Club is sad to hear the news of the passing of former member Brendan Prizeman.

Brenda, along with his parents Breda and Joe played pitch and putt in Old County for a number of years.

Sincerest sympathy to Brendan's family at this very difficult time.

Ladies and Gentlemen the scores are in for Week 1 of the Winter Leagues. Delighted to say all of the 10 teams got a score on the board.

in Group A Team Bermingham (Kevin, Denis, Agnes and Marie) got off to a flying start, topping the group with 38 under par. They are 5 shots clear of Team O'Reilly (Tom, Tommy, Charlie and Colm) who scored 33 under par.

In Group B we have joint leaders as both Team Comerford (Liam, Joe, Andy, Frances) and team Glennon (Ian, Brian, Kathleen and Pat) both scored 31 under par.

Ladies and Gentlemen the results are in for last weekends Winter Sweepstake Competition and they are as follows:

All winners are cut 2 shots for the remainder of the Winter Competitions. 

Ladies and Gentlemen the Teams have today been drawn for the Winter League 2023.

 40 players have entered this year's Winter League and they have been drawn into 10 teams with 4 players on each team.

 The 10 teams were drawn into 2 Groups of 5 - Group A and Group B.

A team's best 6 weekends scores over the first 8 weekends (weather permitting) will count towards the team's overall score for the 8 weekends.

The best 18 nett scores from the top 3 players on the team each weekend counts towards their teams total score for that weekend. If less than 3 players on a team play on a weekend, then the team has no score for that weekend.

The top team in Group A and the top team in Group B after the 8 weekends will play in a final on the 9th weekend (currently scheduled for w/e 03 to 05 March 2023). Also, if any team, no matter what position they finish in their Group, has the same or a better score than the top team in the other Group, then they will also qualify for the Final. If there is a tie at the top of a Group, then the tied top teams will also each qualify for the Final.

The scoring in the Final will be, similar to the above, the top 3 players best 18 nett scores for that weekend to count for the overall team score. If teams are tied in the Final then the result will be decided on cumulative back 9's, back 6's etc.

I do hope the above sounds reasonable to everyone. It was great fun writing it out!! The scores from this weekend (06 to 08 Jan 2023) will be posted up on  Wednesday.
