March 30th: Sundrive sign for 2 years:

Sundrive Credit Union have agreed to sponsor the Old County Spring Open for the next two years. At a meeting with the board of management, President Kieran Clancy said they wished to formalise the relationship that has existed for over 15 years and they were delighted to once again sponsor the club's big open for the next two years. The Credit Union have been terrific sponsors to us over the last two decades and it is a great boost to extend this sponsorship and once again work together over the next two years. The Open week tees off on Monday May 03rd.
 

Adam / Laura lead the qualifiers:

Adam McGreal & Laura Whelan put in a masterclass to qualify first in the Dublin Mixed qualifiers on Sunday. The duo shot a very impressive +22 and such scoring will see them enter the final as one of the favourites. They shot +11 for both 18's to lead the way by eight shot from Christy & Irene Broe who shot a very impressive +14( +6, +8). The The third qualifying spot went to Fran & Monica Browne, the couple only posted +1 for the first 18 and looked likely to miss out but a super +12 in the 2nd 18 saw them finish on +13. The final two couples to make it through were Tony Byrne & Madeline Nugent and Dolores Mason & Rob Ryan who both finished on +11. Well done to all five who will represent the club in the finals in Ring Common on April 18th.
 

Mixed Qualifying this Sunday:

Seventeen couples will be in action this Sunday trying to capture one of the five places on offer for the Dublin Mixed finals. The V-Par Scotch Foursomes will take place at 3PM and will be over 36 holes. The finalist will play in Ring Common on Sunday April 18th in a bit to capture the Kevin Lambert Shield. Good luck to all taking part we will inform you of the qualifiers on Sunday.
 

Tom wins opening scratch cup in wexford

Tom Walsh made the perfect start to his season when he captured the opening scratch cup of the season in Enniscorthy on Sunday evening. Tom led the St.Patricks event by three shots after shooting an impressive 90 for 36 holes, however it looked like local player Martin Foley would overhaul Tom after a slow start in the final 18 for the Old County player. Tom however burst into life with a chip in and a hatful of birdies and killed off the local players challenge with a hole in one on the 16th. Tom's finishing score of 137 (-25) gave him a three shot win and his first scratch cup win in five years, meaning the 1st as an Old County player. It was the perfect warm up for Tom who plays the qualifying for the Irish Open in Clonee next Saturday, well played Tom.

There were four prizes up for grabs at the St.Patrick's Day Scotch Foursomes Stableford. Brendan Fitzpatrick & Adam McGreal took the Overall Nett with impressive 48 pts. The Gross went to Andy Kinsella & Jack Williams. In the Mixed section, the nett was won by Kathleen Condron & George McGreal with 45 pts on back nine and the mixed gross went to Peg Lawlor and Joe Byrne who had 39 pts. Well done to all on a great start to their season.
