Ladies and Gentlemen the first weekend of the "Hamper" Competition took place at the weekend. We have 3 divisions in the gents and 2 divisions in the ladies.

The early pace setter in Division 1 is Gerry Clarges with a 43 Nett, leading by 5 shots from 4 other players all tied on 48 Nett.

Paul Luz had an excellent start in Division 2 with a 41 Nett, leading by 5 shots from Harry Holmes in 2nd place.

In Division 3 Fintan Byrne leads the way with 45 nett, followed closely by Nicky Quinn on 46 Nett.

In the Ladies Division 1 Pauline Balfe and Kathleen Condron are joint leaders on 46 Nett while in Division 2 Margaret Collins leads the way with a 51 nett, 2 shots clear of Ann Doyle in 2nd place on 53 nett.

Its the best 4 weekend scores out of 5 that count for the overall score. A link to the leaderboards can be found below (I hope):

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to the 54 players who returned 107 cards to the competitions box. 

Ladies and Gentlemen this coming Friday (October 13) and Saturday (October 14) there is essential work being carried out on the greens. If anyone has some free time and can hold a shovel or use a sweeping brush your help would be much appreciated. The more hands the lighter the work load for all.

As a result of the above there is a change in the weekend competition times. Here are the details:

Friday 13 October

First card tee off at 10.00am and last card for that session is 2pm. The course will be closed from 3 pm to 5pm due to the work on the greens. It will reopen from 5pm till dusk for the continuation of the competition.

Saturday 14 October

First card tee off is 11am and last card tee off is 3pm. Work on the greens will take place Saturday morning from dawn till 10pm

Sunday 15 October

Competition times as normal, first card tee off 9.00am and last card tee off 2pm.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to the 53 players who returned 106 cards to the competitions box. 

The winners receive a 3 shot handicap cut and everyone receives a 1 shot handicap bonus. ( for example if your handicap is -4 and you won then next weekend your handicap is -2 (-4 +3 -1). If your handicap is -4 and you didnt win then next weekend your handicap is -5.)

The entry sheet for the hamper competition is up on the club house wall. If you want to play in it please put your name on the entry sheet before you play your first card next weekend. Handicaps for the hamper competition will be your normal handicap (no bonues etc).

Next weekend (Friday 13th to Sunday 15th October) is Week 2 of the Turkeys and start of the Hamper Competition. Placing is in, bunkers are in play and there is a free drop off the winter greens no nearer the hole.
