Old County Pitch & Putt Club

Ladies and Gentlemen tonight was the first round of the Club Sean Tyre Fourball Matchplay. The course was in pristine condition and the evening sunshine made it very pleasant for playing. The results were as follows:

Match 1: Karl Murphy and Stephen Murray put on a birdie feast to defeat Eugene Coyne and Gerry Clarges

Match 2: This was the match of the night (if there was a Match of the Day for pitch and putt Gary Lineker would be showing the highlights of this match first) as Ann O'Shea and Kathleen Condron got the better of Derek and Brendan Conway on the 2nd tie hole. Well done ladies.

Match 3: Frances Keane and Bridie Roche put on a good display but it was Laura Whelan and Stephen Power to advance to the next round.

Match 4: Tommy Lynam and Joe Canning defeated Teresa Keating and Marie Devoy.

Match 5: Brian Gorman and Denis Grace were in fine form to win against Dolores Mason and Vera Glennon.

Match 6: Kevin Bermingham and Mal Kellett got the better of Deirdre Curran and Liam Comerford.

So the quarter finals line up for Tuesday 22 August 2023 are as follows:

Q/F 1: Margaret Collins (-14) & Harry Holmes (-6) v Karl Murphy (+1) & Stephen Murray (+1)

Q/F 2: Ann O'Shea (-8) & Kathleen Condron (-9) v Laura Whelan (-7) & Stephen Power (0)

Q/F 3: Tommy Lynam (-3) & Joe Canning (-3) v Brian Gorman (-6) & Denis Grace (-4)

Q/F 4: Kevin Bermingham (0) & Mal Kellett (-6) v Agnes Redmond (-9) & Dave Redmond (-2), defending champions.

If players can arrive as early as possible (if you can start between 5.30pm and 6pm, would be great) and we will do our best to see if we can play the semi finals tomorrow night also.
