Winter Leagues: Team H complete handsome victory

There was no late heroics as Team H completed their anticipated victory in the 2019 Winter Leagues. In fact most teams posted their worst score and a few did not get the required three players to put in a score. Team H have been excellent in particular Tony Byrne and Kevin Keatinge who regularly posted scores in the early 40's and at times hit the low 30's, Paul Griffin and Angela Smith played their part as well in securing an 18 shot win. Team F were 2nd and they too were excellent at times and again Joe Byrne & Christy Broe were regularly hitting scores in the low 40's, David Redmond too played his part and great to see Sadie contribute each week and be part of the runners up. In third place saw the gents captain Harry Holmes and Joe Canning and the very impressive Vera Moore who was the low scorer of this team with Rob Ryan the 4th member of the team. The full list is below, Well done to all who took part and the weather in the main was very good just a few windy & frosty mornings. We hope to see all those players come out in force this Sunday for the drive in. Thanks to our Comp Secretary who was very busy updating spreadsheets over the last 10 weeks and of course our sponsors Frehills Tavern where we will have the presentation on Friday March 29th.

Winter Leagues: Team H take healthy lead into final week

In the penultimate weekend Team H more or less won the Winter League title as they added 129 and were able to remove the score of 130 from week 1 as they improved their score by 1 shot. Team F remain in second and made up a shot on the leaders but sadly for them it won't be enough.  Team J actually scored the gap on Team F making up six shots but the reality is they too left it too late to challenge for 2nd.  Team C are now clear in 4th a further 16 shots back. Unfortunately a number of teams have not yet got the 8 scores in and so will not be able to drop any scores from their total. This weekend Team H can enjoy the final weekend after a job well done. Of the individual scores that stood out.  Jenn McGreal with an excellent 39, Phyllis Davis  had a 41, Vera Moore and Alice Sargent both had 40's and Kevin Keatinge with a 40 and Christy Broe with a 41 were the bright lights of the gents.

Winter Leagues Week 8: Team H still out in front as we hit home straight

We have just two weeks left now and it is the teams chance to climb the leaderboard by ditching their worst score. However it is looking unlikely that Team H will be caught, they added a 128 to their score last week. Whilst their closest challengers Team F had a 129. It looks like Team H remarkable 115 in week 4 could be the one to make the difference. Another 41 from Tony Byrne and 42 from Kevin Keatinge is keeping them clear. David Redmond and Joe Byrne also in the early 40's are trying to kerp pace, but the 19 shot lead looks a bridge too far. Team F are unlikely to be caught for 2nd as they are 18 shots clear of Team J whose score of 135 was their worst and they will  hope to wipe that one out in Week 9. The full leaderboard are below. Outside the leading duo, Jenn McGreal with a 37, Michael Quinn with a 38 and Alice Sargent with a 39 were the star performers. We can see if Week 9 when the worst scores are removed makes any difference.

Winter Leagues Week 7: Team H extend lead over Team F

Week 7 of the Winter leagues and a touch of spring as the month of March approaches, the weather may have turned but the team at the head of affairs show no signs of being derailed. Team H once again posted another excellent score with Tony Byrne and Kevin Keatinge adding another 41 and 42. They had just 3 players in action but they once again posted the best score of the weekend. Team F look well positioned to finish 2nd but as the weeks run out they need some really low scores to pull in the leaders. Joe Byrne wth a 42 was the best of this trio. Behind them the other teams are jocking for positions.  Team J's Vera Moore again was the lowest scorer with a 38. Team K's Michael Quinn with a 40 and Madeline Nugent also shot a low score with a 40 for Team A.

Winter Leagues Week 6: Team H remain the front runners

We are reaching the critical stages of the Winter leagues. The upturn in the Winter tells us that Spring is on the way and the Drive IN is just around the corner. Team H have been out in front over the last 4 weeks and once again put in another strong performance with a 41 and two 43's. Team E are trying to keep tabs but the gap is 15 despite a 40 and 41 from their players. The battle behind is close with Team J 14 shots further back and Team I 11 behind them. We are getting close to the point where teams will drop their worst score and that could see some changes. We have three teams now who have not completed the full 6 weeks and two of them have just 4 weeks counting so they will not be able to drop their worst score. This weekend promises some Mild weather and we expect the scoring to reflect the upturn in the weather. Best of luck to all.
