Old County Pitch & Putt Club

We had a wonderful weekend weather wise for the traditional Easter weekend major when the players compete for the Fr.Pat Trophy and the members responded in the turnout with a magnificent  265 cards played over the 4 days. The scoring too especially in the senior grade was extremely impressive  but on the whole there was some outstanding pitch & putt played. Kevin Bermingham won the 36 Gross with an excellent 92. Kevin Corcoran too was in excellent form with a 44. In the Inters Lennon Blake with a superb 88N, just missed out on the top prize. Gerry Clarges too is back to his brilliant best with a 96 Gross and Rob Berney also shot low with a 41N. In the ladies our Leinster champ of 2018 after her treble Pauline Balfe shot a superb 89N and just missed out too. Other winners over the weekend were Matt O'Donovan, Rob Ryan, George Lamon . In the ladies too, great to see our lady captain Kathleen in the winners circle, Agnes Redmond is always out competiting and well done to her on her win. Vera Glennon and Moore shows no signs of dropping their form and Jenn McGreal continue to juggle her twins and pitch & putt to great affect as she picked up the 18 Nett. 

The winner for long periods looked like it might be Tom O'Reilly as his form rockets once again in the majors but this weekend the spotlight fell on the very popular Stephen Power who was no longer the nearly man in club majors but very much the main man as he took the Overall on Back 6 with an 88N. Stephen has been picking up the wins in the lead up along with Tom in the senior grade and it was fitting his form stayed strong over the 4 days to bag the 1st big major of the season and will give him great confidence for the championships ahead. Well done to Stephen and all the winners and we will annouce date of presentation in due course. Thanks to our comp secretary for looking after the Major and we look forward to seeing equally impressive numbers in the events ahead.
