After the Sean McDermott Cup and Tom Doyle/Anne Keane Trophies, the player of the year is starting to fall between a handful of players.  There are a couple of big competitions left with the GAA & Ladies Handicap matchplay plus the 50^th Anniversary Trophy so plenty of points are still available.

After the club matchplay, a chase 100 event, we have a new leader in the gents chase with Ross O’Reilly moving ahead of Stephen Murray by 10 points. Both Conor Walsh and Tom O’Reilly have also brought themselves into contention.  In the ladies chase there is no separating Vera Glennon or Kathleen Condron after the club matchplay with both ladies winning their respective grades.  They are along way ahead of Lucy Quinn in 3^rd place.

There are still plenty of points available from now to September starting with the Sean McDermott Cup next week.

The Officers Prize offered 100 points to the winner in the race to the Champions Chase but none of the players at the top of the leaderboard in either the Ladies or Gents, managed the win.  They did however gain valuable points in the grade prizes.  The big loser in the gents was Jamie Power who got no points and now trails the leader Stephen Murray by 30 points.   All the leading ladies gained points but we are still tied at the top between Kathleen Condron & Vera Glennon.   The next club major is the Club Matchplay and this will play a big role in deciding who becomes the Ladies and Gents Player of the Year winner with 100 points to each winner and valuable runner-up & semi-finalist points.  The entry form is on the clubhouse noticeboard and the draw takes place on Saturday 6^th August.

After the Captains Prize, which is our second chase 100 event, the Player of the Year, Champions Chase leaderboard has got a lot tighter in both the Ladies and Gents chase.  Stephen Murray leads the Gents by a mere 10 points from Jamie Power with a bit of a gap to Tom O’Reilly in 3^rd place.  The Ladies has joint leaders in Kathleen Condron and Vera Glennon with Lucy Quinn laying a drift in 3^rd place.  This is really only the half way point in the season and a lot can happen over the remaining summer months so as we head towards our Officers Prize and Club Matchlpay who will be in prime position come August.
